Al Gag’s Casting Egg is designed to launch lightweight lures farther than traditional casting methods allow. Weighing approximately 1.75oz., these casting eggs come sealed and ready to fish with stainless steel through-wire, grommets, and the same high-quality you’ve come to trust from Al Gag’s Lures. Inside the package the Casting Egg is built, but “unrigged”, allowing you to customize your presentation with your favorite leader, teaser, fly, soft plastic, or light jig. When fish are keyed in on small bait just beyond your normal casting range, the Casting Egg gives you the extra distance needed to reach the strike zone. Turned from Birch and tumbled in semi-gloss varnish to prevent water intrusion, these eggs are about as durable as they can be made. A longtime favorite among Rhode Island surfcasters, Al Gag’s Casting Eggs have earned a loyal following up and down the Northeast coast for targeting striped bass, false albacore, bluefish, and other inshore gamefish. Their simple, proven design lets you cast light offerings with confidence from the beach, rocks, jetties, or boat, while maintaining the natural presentation that finicky fish demand. Whether you’re chasing blitzing albies or stripers feeding on tiny baitfish, Al Gag’s Casting Egg is a time-tested tool that belongs in every surfcaster’s bag. Simple to rig, easy to fish, and proven effective for decades, it’s the perfect solution when the fish want small baits – but you’re struggling to reach them.
